Syrians demonstrate against Bashar al-Assad in Athens


Almost 500 Syrian people who live in Athens, demonstrated against Bashar al-Assad in the city center and in front of the Greek Parliament. Greece, 30th August 2011.

Almost 500 Syrian people who live in Athens, demonstrated against Bashar al-Assad in the city center and in front of the Greek Parliament.
On the day of Eid Al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan for Muslims, demonstration started from Kotzia square, where the City Hall is, and passed from Omonoia square, Stadiou avenue , Syntagma Square, Greek Parliament, and ended near the Prime Minister's Hall, in Venizelou avenue.
Mighty and powerful slogans against Bashar al-Assad, dominated the rally.
The Syrian Community in Greece who organized the demonstration, delivered a resolution to the Greek Parliament and issued an announcement calling all Greek people to join their voices with them. Among others, the announcement says: "Your silence is killing the people and the young children of Syria" .

Communist activists unveil a poster at Acropolis

Around 300 members of the Communist trade union PAME (KKE), erected a poster over Acropolis, protesting against an austerity package imposed by foreign creditors to avoid defaults. Athens, Greece. 27th June 2011.

Early Monday morning, about 300 members of the Communist trade union PAME (KKE), put up a giant poster over Acropolis, protesting against an austerity package imposed by foreign creditors to avoid default.

The banner said in Greek and English: "The peoples have the power and never surrender. Organize counter-attack".

Trade unions have called a 48hour general strike on Tuesday, against the new austerity measures expected to be voted this week by the Greek Parliament, and privatisation plans that the EU and IMF have demanded .

On the day of a general strike in Greece, Indignants surrounded the Parliament in Athens, Greece to protest against the government. 15th June 2011.

On the day of the general strike in Greece against government's economic austerity measures, around 7am in the morning the Indignants surrounded the Parliament in Athens.
The Greek Government reacted with:
- a number of 5000 riot policemen.
- blockade of a larger area around Parliament House. Pedestrians have to show ID and prove that they have work in the center to be allowed to pass from the Police blockade.
-a big new steel fence around the area of the Parliament House.
The protests of Indignantos will continue all day.

Demonstration for stabbed Greek turns into riots and racist acts


A gathering of roughly 1000 citizens at the point where the 44-year-old Greek man was stabbed, at dawn last Tuesday, turned into riots with anarchists and acts of racism.

During the protest march in Athens center, protesters attacked immigrants who were on their way. Police tried to stop them and did not arrest anyone although they saw it all happen.

A gathering of around 1000 citizens at the point where the 44 year old Greek man was stabbed at dawn last Tuesday, turned into riots with anarchists from Villa Amalias squat and into racist action in the center of the Greek capital.
Participants were holding Greek flags, were shouting slogans against migrants, communists and anarchists, and were singing the national anthem of Greece.
During the protest march in Athens center, they attacked immigrants who were on their way.
After the incidents, a number of migrants were transferred to the Hospital.
