A year after the bloody attacks of the farm supervisors, who shot at 33 Bangladeshi farm workers in Manolada, when they protested because they had not been paid for seven months, nothing is better in the nylon residences of laborers.
Furthermore things have developed worse for them, since they continue to be, not only unpaid over a year, but also hungry and without work . "I do not have food , I do not have electricity , I do not have clean water, no bathroom, they do not pay me , I do not have papers and the police arrest me all the time " they are heard saying while living at crowded sheds in awful conditions.
On 14 and 15 March 2014 , about 100 laborers from Bangladesh protested in Manolada their living conditions, while police was present. They wrote on a banner they held : « April 17th , black day for the workers in the strawberry fields of Manolada ." So then , on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 , around 6 pm, in Manolada , 200 Bangladeshi laborers who work in a Greek strawberry farm, were shot by three representatives of employers when they protested because they had not been paid for seven months. Eight of them were seriously injured.
Even now a year later, they say they are still unpaid.
Although the jobs were publicly announced last year after the shooting , no Greek laborers were interested to work in strawberry farms.

Ένα χρόνο μετά τα αιματηρά επεισόδια με τους πυροβολισμούς στις καλλιέργειες φράουλας της Μανωλάδας δεν έχει καλυτερεύσει η ζωή της νάιλον παραγκούπολης των εργατών γης.
Επιπλέον τα πράγματα είναι χειρότερα γι΄ αυτούς, αφού εξακολουθούν να είναι όχι μόνο απλήρωτοι πάνω από χρόνο αλλά και χωρίς εργασία και πεινασμένοι . «Δεν έχω φαγητό, δεν έχω ρεύμα, δεν έχω νερό, δεν έχω μπάνιο, δεν με πληρώνουν, δεν έχω χαρτιά και η αστυνομία με συλλαμβάνει» λένε μέσα από τις παράγκες τους, όπου νέοι άνθρωποι με όρεξη για δουλειά ζουν κάτω από άθλιες συνθήκες.
Στις 14 και 15 Μάρτη 2014, περίπου 100 εργάτες γης από το Μπαγκλαντές διαμαρτυρήθηκαν για τις συνθήκες που ζουν ενώ στο πανό έγραψαν: «17th April Black Day for Manolada Strawberry Workers» «17η Απριλίου, μαύρη μέρα για τους εργάτες στα φραουλοχώραφα της Μανωλάδας». Τότε λοιπόν, την Τετάρτη 17 Απριλίου 2013, γύρω στις 6 μμ , στην Μανωλάδα , 200 Μπαγκλαντεσιανοί εργάτες γης, οι οποίοι εργάζονται σε γεωργική επιχείρηση Έλληνα, δέχθηκαν πυροβολισμούς από τρεις εκπροσώπους του εργοδότη (επιστάτες) όταν ζήτησαν τα δεδουλευμένα επτά μηνών. Ακόμα σήμερα ένα χρόνο μετά, εξακολουθούν να είναι απλήρωτοι. Ας μην ξεχνάμε ότι για τις θέσεις εργασίας που είχαν δημόσια προκηρυχτεί πέρυσι μετά τους πυροβολισμούς, ουσιαστικά κανένας εργάτης ελληνικής καταγωγής δεν είχε ενδιαφερθεί για να στελεχώσει την ντόπια παραγωγή της φράουλας.
