Video: Mrs Theodora desribes that she is a victim of unprovoked police brutality inside the yard of her home. The incident happened during a huge riot police operation a few days ago, against the people of Keratea.Keratea, Greece. 20/02/2011.

Recent clashes of local people in Keratea with the riot police, as they oppose the construction of a dump site. Arrests have already been made during the week and the situation has been volatile, but now looks like it entered a gridlock.
On December 11 2010 riot police arrived in Keratea and forbids people to visit or to walk in a big area around Ovriokastro hill where a dump site is about to be constructed. Only people who have their houses in the area are permitted to pass the blocks of riot police.
Local people impeach that the first days after December 11th, around 600 riot police officers arrived in the area, and also police helicopters inspected the area.
Mr Sotiris Iatrou, city councilor of Keratea says that the city of Keratea proposes alternatives and solutions for waste-management and recycling. Greece's law allow the creation of 'quick fix' dumps rather than investing in long term waste-treatment and recycling.

Mr Stefanos Attart who has a business (Off Road Park ) in the area complaints that the his clients are not allowed to pass the Police block and visit his company so he loses money day by day.

Giolina who is a student says that she is struggling against the dump site. And she believes that people will win as their struggle is rightful.

Mr Stamatis Papatathanasiou who is directing the local cultural union, says that they have to defend their land and a archaeological site from destruction. Police Forces have shown unbelievable brutality and arbitrariness by using thoughtless violence against youth and elder people. Our struggle is rightful and we will be in the streets till the final justification.

Mrs Helen says that she wouldn't expect to riot with police in her 50's of age. I am a conservative person. I am afraid of things getting worse and more violent and I would expect to find a solution by using dialogue. But authorities and do not want a solution as they show.

Mrs Vicky says that a few days ago, her cousin was arrested in his car while he was leaving from his work and was accused for things he had never made. Police tried to construct accusation while he was innocent. He is still in charge of things he has never made. I am afraid that any time i can be arrested, as anyone can be arrested without reason. I always have with me medicine against tear gas, says by showing it.

Mrs Theodora desribes police brutality unprovoked inside the yard of her home, during a big riot police operation a few days ago, against the people of Keratea.
